The Philadelphia Eagles announced they released the following 12 players yesterday:

  4. DE David King

  5. QB G.J. Kinne

  10. OL Dallas Reynolds

  11. LB Adrian Robinson

The Eagles also placed DE Joe Kruger on the Injured Reserve list with a shoulder injury. Kruger is 21, with upside. Good job by the Eagles getting him to agree to "redshirt" for a season.

The team's roster now stands at 62 players. All NFL teams are required to cut down their rosters to 53 players by 6 pm ET tonight.

Here's what they're saying...

Jon Gruden will call the Eagles' Week 1 opener next Monday night along with play-by-play man Mike Tirico.

Gruden jumped on a conference call with reporters Thursday to talk about the upcoming season, and ESPN was kind enough to pass along the transcript. So here's a Q&A on Eagles-related topics.

» READ MORE: Harbor awaits his fate with Eagles - Paul Domowitch, Daily News

"I have confidence in myself that I can play," Harbor said. "I feel I'm the best player I've ever been. I have confidence I can get the job done somewhere in this league.

"I feel like I've improved every year. I've gotten better. I've built more consistency. That was my big thing coming into the offseason. I'd watch myself on film and I'd have a really good block, then I'd have a subpar block. I'd have a really nice route, then run another one where I'd say, 'Why did I do that?' It comes down to focus and doing everything and focusing on details and executing plays."

» READ MORE: Redskins, Dr. Andrews create a mess regarding Griffin - Mike Florio, ProFootballTalk

Intentionally or not, the Redskins have created a haze of confusion regarding quarterback Robert Griffin III, with the first game of the regular season only 10 days away.

Griffin reportedly will start, even though the report emerged before he was medically cleared.  And he's now been medically cleared, but coach Mike Shanahan won't say that Griffin will start.

But Shanahan will say that the man who cleared Griffin, Dr. James Andrews, has "a couple of concerns."  But Shanahan won't say what they are.  And Dr. Andrews is now telling reporters he has no concerns.

Jimmy note: This whole thing smacks of Mike Shanahan trying to create uncertainty for the Eagles on how RG3 will be used, which seems like a waste of time and energy, as the Eagles would be foolish to do anything other than prepare for "heathy RG3."

Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone announced earlier this week that quarterback Kevin Kolb is not considering retirement after his latest concussion. Kolb's 2013 season, however, is over.
