Fun events with kids in Philly

A couple activities to do with your children

There are often so many fun ways to spend time with kids in Philadelphia that my family ends up staying home because we just can't decide what to do.

If you, like me, want to start breaking that habit, here are a couple of fun events to get you outside the house this week:

1) Treehouse Books, 1430 W. Susquehanna Ave., will participate in the 24th annual African-American Read-in from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 21st.

Children, parents, and the public are invited to Tree House Books to hear children read aloud, participate in a student reading circle, share a story, and honor books authored by African Americans.

More information here: http://treehousebooks.org/

2) Philly Kids Rock Fest, a fundraiser for the Trinity Play group in Center City, is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 23 at Union Transfer, 1026 Spring Garden Street.

The event features performances by The Plants and the Lara and Joe Show and other activities. Tickets are $10 if purchased here and $12 at the door.
