Greetings from the Wachovia Center, where we're just moments away from the unofficial opening game of the Big 5 season. It's fitting that we begin here, because in just over five months we'll end here with the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament.

With that, off we go for our first live blog of the basketball season...

Prescott and Irwin look like they'll give the Hawks something this year. Their contributions (along with the development of Hillard) will go a long way in determining the level of success the Hawks achieve this season. Some observations from tonight: *A very quiet night for Joe DeMayo. Why do I think he'll make up for it on some cold wintery night at the Palestra. *Nivins with 25 and 13. Monster. And he looks like he's spent some serious time in the guy. *In his mind, Tasheed Carr has never comitted a foul in his life. Those 6 turnovers tonight weren't all that helpful either. *Crowd was decent, thankfully thats the last we'll see of it during the regular season.
