1. Abduction charges: Federal charges have been filed against 37-year-old Delvin Barnes, accused of abducting a 22-year-old woman in Germantown and fleeing to Maryland. New details are also emerging about the random kidnapping and how authorities tracked down Carlesha Freeland-Gaither and her assailant.
2. Merlino's restaurant, upcoming jail time: Former Philadelphia mob boss Joseph "Skinny Joey" Merlino begins working today as a host at a just-opened posh Florida Italian restaurant that bears his name, as his lawyers are working to keep him out of prison for a probation violation.
3. Elderly health care: Health care leaders are scheduled to discuss a report being released today on health care issues for the elderly in Montgomery County.
4. DeCoatsworth trial: Jurors are expected to begin deliberating today to decide the fate of a former Philadelphia "hero" police officer accused of assaulting his girlfriend.
5. Corbett and Paterno: In an interview with the Inquirer, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett made his most expansive public comments to date about the Jerry Sandusky child sex-abuse scandal. Longtime football coach Joe Paterno "probably" should not have been fired, the governor said.
