Here's your daily look at five stories to know about:

1. Powerball jackpot: Powerball has hiked its jackpot for tonight's drawing to $425 million for the annuity, $244.7 million for cash. Those numbers are the fourth-largest jackpots in North American history. And if no one wins tonight, the jackpot that rolls over could top the all-time record.

2. Relief at the Convention Center: The American Association of Diabetes Educators' convention begins today, less than a week after several unions who work at the Pennsylvania Convention Center went on strike. A truce was reached by the end of the strike's first day, giving relief to the more than 4,000 diabetes educators expected to attend the conference.

3. 2016 DNC in Philly?: U.S. Rep. Bob Brady will begin making his case today that Philadelphia should host the Democratic National Convention in 2016.  He's bringing the group that produced the 2012 convention in Charlotte to the city to explain the bid process and meet with political, tourism and labor leaders.

4. New chancellor for Pa. universities: The governing board for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education will select a new chancellor today to oversee its 14 state universities. A special meeting tonight will end the search to replace departed chancellor John Cavanaugh.

5. New Conrail lawsuit: Another lawsuit is slated to be filed today against Conrail over last year's train derailment in South Jersey. First responders planning to file suit say Conrail was negligent in the aftermath of the Nov. 30 derailment and chemical spill in Paulsboro.
