Owls pick up player from Monmouth

Former Monmouth forward Dutch Gaitley will play for Temple this season after being granted a one-time transfer exception by the NCAA.

Gaitley, a 6-9, 240-pounder, graduated after 3 years at Monmouth. He is enrolled in Temple graduate school. Gaitley informed Monmouth in the spring that he would not return.

“Dutch is a hard-working, bright young man who will be a good addition to our program,” Temple coach Fran Dunphy said in a statement.

Gaitley averaged 2.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in 88 games at Monmouth. He is a 2006 graduate of Archbishop Carroll High.
