Honors for Temple's Dunphy, Randall

For the second straight year, Temple coach Fran Dunphy has been named the recipient of the Harry Litwack Award given to the Eastern College Coach of the Year.

Junior forward Scootie Randall will be honored with the George Paulll Award given to the Big 5's Most Improved Player.

The awards will be presented at the Philadelphia Big 5 Banquet, Monday, April 25 in the Fox-Gittis Room at the Liacouras Center.

Dunphy, who has won the award three times during his 5 years at Temple, guided the Owls to a 26-8 record and a fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The Owls defeated Penn State for the program's first NCAA win in a decade before falling in double overtime to second-seeded and fifth-ranked San Diego State.

Randall, who was also named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Most Improved Player, averaged 10.7 points and 4.7 rebounds -- more than nine points (1.7 ppg,) and three rebounds (1.4 rpg.) more than his sophomore season.

Tickets for the banquet can be reserved by contacting Al Shrier at Temple University (215 651-1821/ashrier5@temple.edu).
