Busy night in the Atlantic 10

A busy night tonight in the Atlantic 10, as teams head into the final week of the regular season.

Temple, LaSalle and Saint Joseph's are in action, with seeding implications for all.

Temple has already clinched a first-round bye but could still has a chance at the top seed. Xavier would clinch at least a tie for the regular-season crown tonight with a win over Charlotte.

At the other end of the standings, Saint Joseph's is trying to make sure that it makes the field. The Hawks host Richmond tonight and then visit Charlotte on Saturday. They have a one-game lead over Charlotte for the final tournament spot.

Two teams won't make the field this year, which begins with opening round games on campus sites next Tuesday before moving to Atlantic City for the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals, beginning next Friday.

Who: Temple (22-6, 12-2 A-10) at Massachusetts (15-12, 7-7)

Notes: Heading into the final week of the regular eason, Temple is a game behind Xavier for first place in the A-10. Xavier has won seven in a row and hosts Charlotte tonight. X finishes at Saint Louis on Saturday, while the Owls host LaSalle ... Both teams already have clinched first-round byes in the A-10 Tournament ... Ramone Moore is 10th in the A-10 in scoring at 15 points per game ... Anthony Gurley is the lone UMass player to average in double figures (18.3 ppg.) and ranks third in the conference.

Senior Jerrell Williams needs four rebounds to become the eighth Explorer with 1,000 points and 750 rebounds ... The Rams have lost 16 consecutive games ... Sophomore Chris Gaston, the reigning A-10 Rookie of the Year, is averaging a double-double (15.7 ppg., 11.0 rpg.) and is sixth nationally in rebounding.

The 14-point margin of victory was their largest of the season ... Seniors Charoy Bentley and Idris Hilliard will be honored in their final home game ...
