Specters, Utleys break bread in Belmont Hills

Sen. Arlen Specter and wife Joan dined with Phillies slugger Chase Utley and wife Jen at La Collina (37 Ashland) in Belmont Hills after Sunday’s game. The senator attends most Sunday home games. We’re told Specter and Utley were both gracious, saying hello to fellow diners who approached them in the Italian restaurant where 1340 WHAT-AM’s JD also dined with family.

No way Philly papers fold with Pulitzer-level investigative reporting like this.

OMG!!! WHAT-AM’s JD!!! Now that is the real scoop! Dan, I need more details. What did he (or she) eat? What is his (or her) family like? All of these unanswered questions are running through my head.

For 30 pieces of silver, Judas Specter would be a Met's fan.

Chase, pls resist the suggestion that you switch hit, change leagues or move to left field.

Political idiologs are nit-wits! Right or Left, they're nit-wits! To them everything in life centered around their own close minded beliefs! No one has ever been able to prove a "belief" to be "fact". Half buttocks' all! Some even now want to trash Utley for dining with Spector. You tolerated Sen. Expectorate for all these years and now you are so indigently affronted because he changes his stripes once again! Is he a true Independent or a mere pragmatic politician? You guess!

Suspect Collina's has someone who tipped off the media. It's a good restaurant but, like the old Bookbinders, does not mind promoting itself. As we all do.

At one point during the meal in a break from the conversation, Spector took his fork and it visited every plate within reach. Jaws dropped and people were aghast. Spector then began to ramble on about the "Single Fork Theory"

In spite of what everyone is saying there are 3 things I know for sure- 1-La Collina is a great place. The food and service are top notch. 2-Chase Utley is one the best ballplayerrs in any sport this city has ever had. 3-Whatever you think about Specter I bet he would be one hell of an interesting guy to have dinner with.

Man o Man..there's a lot of hate out there. Aren't there more important issues to get worked up over other than whether a pol and ball player break bread?

For all the pain and misery Specter's horrendous governance has caused for millions of people over the years this news only serves to make lose respect for Chase Utley.

Specter, please keep your shadiness away from Chase. Dan Gross, nice post, NOT! Keep your silly gossip to yourself. I bet you had to "someday repay a favor" to someone at La Collina. And that day was Sunday.

Big whup, I only want to hear about Utley's baseball stats and nothing else. WE all know he is a misguided California tree hugger, what do you want to do get him run out of town?
