Actress Kat Dennings seems far more comfortable on a movie screen in front of millions than at a party with a few hundred people.

And although a lot of stars pretend they don't like a fuss being made about them, the Bryn Mawr native seemed sincerely uncomfortable as the guest of honor Monday at SugarHouse Casino, where Philadelphia Style hosted a party celebrating its new issue, which features Dennings on its cover.

The "Thor" co-star, whose credits also include "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" and "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist," said seeing her face blown up on the cover of Philadelphia Style "makes me really uncomfortable, but it is part of my job." She also understands that "if being succesful means tolerating a certain amount of being uncomfortable, that's part of my job."

Fox 29's John Bolaris and Mike Jerrick; NBC10's Justin Pizzi and Jillian Mele; and 93.3 WMMR's Marisa Magnatta were among guests attending the Style party, where Dennings kept a low profile.

In the pages of Philadelphia Style, Dennings gave a shout-out to the Wynnewood Lanes (2228 Haverford) in Ardmore as one of the things she missed about the area. She told us she wasn't a great bowler but liked the arcade games and vividly remembered the bowling alley's hot chocolate.

Dennings, 24, said she's really excited about "Two Broke Girls," a sitcom CBS just picked up in which she plays a waitress. "It just sorta fell into my lap and it was too good to pass up."

She has done a number of guest roles on television, but her last series was in 2001, when she worked on "Raising Dad" with Abington native Bob Saget. Interestingly, she was born the same day - June 13, 1986 - as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who both played Saget's daughter, Michelle, on "Full House."

Dennings stayed Monday night in a two-bedroom condo at the Residences at Two Liberty Place, where she ordered food from the R2L restaurant.
