City's first green wall sculpture celebrated in Powelton Village

In West Philly's Powelton Village, a group of community organizations will gather this afternoon to somewhat unveil and celebrate the city's first "green wall" sculpture. Well, the first of its kind. It all started when the Mural Arts Program, and a Florida-based, nationally known, environmental artist who goes by the name JEFRË, helped a group of Sayre High School students/aspiring artists explore the concepts of environment and public art. The result: two towers that mirror the old and new architecture of the city. It's a single image that visitors can walk through. The outside edges serve as living, green walls that symbolize the edges of the river.
