Sold: Cecil Baker’s ‘The Dragon’ in Queen Village

A Queen Village home known as “The Dragon” has a new owner after two decades.

A Queen Village home known as "The Dragon" has a new owner after two decades.

The 3,900-square-foot home, redesigned by Cecil Baker, sold last month for $1.3 million. The sellers first listed the home in August 2014 for $1.375 million.

The home gets its name from its unique front door, which is shaped like a dragon.

The home, located on the 300 block of Fitzwater, was built in the mid-19th century but got a makeover from Baker in the 1980s. Baker gave the home more of an open layout, adding in 13 skylights, a sunken living room, and windows inside the home that look into the atrium.

The sellers also did some upgrades in their 20 years of living there: adding a pyramid glass at the top of the atrium, extending and upgrading the kitchen, and renovating the master suite.

A 350-bottle wine cellar, gym, and private garden are also part of the property.

Baker's work can be found throughout the Philly region in condo buildings, universities, and more.
