Property Line: Wyncote for less than $251,000

Wyncote, Pennsylvania occupies the southernmost corner of Montgomery County, butting right up against Cheltenham neighborhoods like Elkins Park and Glenside and Philly neighborhoods Cedarbrook and West Oak Lane. It's home to an historic district known for Frank Furness designs and the architecturally significant Jenkintown-Wyncote train station. Poet Ezra Pound grew up there before the turn of the 20th century. According to Trulia, the median sales price in the leafy neighborhood is $252,500. We set out to find three homes to be had just shy of the average price.

We love this home's Victorian style and its enclosed, green back yard. Inside, more than 3,100 square feet of living space includes some five bedrooms and three bathrooms as well as an updated eat-in kitchen. The wood-burning stove in the living room adds a nice touch.

This home is an 1800s Victorian in the historic district of Wyncote. The interior could use some updating but the curb appeal is beyond question. We also love the pond out back, near the potting shed. Bonus: it's nearby the train station.

515 E. Glenside Avenue
$249,999
2015 taxes: $8,663

This five-bedroom home features a driveway that can accommodate more than ten cars. The basement could be finished to offer yet another bedroom. We love the sunroom, too.
