A Rittenhouse Square condo designed and lived in by the late real estate icon Barbara Greenfield has hit the market for $1.695 million.

Greenfield, described as the "grand dame of Philadelphia real estate and a tireless worker for civic causes" in her April obituary in the Inquirer, had a career that spanned 50 years.

"She was one of the original greats; a legend in the real estate business," said Donald Pearson of Kurfiss Sotheby's International Realty, one of property's listing agents. "She was the epitome of a very bright, sophisticated business woman."

Greenfield purchased this home on the 20th floor of 220 W. Rittenhouse in 2007, and had the whole home renovated. She hired architect Carl Massara to design the 2,464-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath condo. In the listing, it says Greenfield created this home "to be both a respite from her busy professional and civic life and a functional place to entertain friends and family." She lived there up until her death in April.

The home features a large reception foyer that opens into a living room, den and dining room, a chef's kitchen with granite counter tops, a Sub-Zero refrigerator and a wine chiller, and a master suite with a walk-in closet and marble bath.

One of the unique things about the condo, Pearson said, is the view of Rittenhouse Square. The southeast-facing unit has two balconies that overlook the Square.
