Luxury apartment buildings are known to come with many perks such as a pool, gym and a roof deck.

But at 2M Apartments, a new apartment building in Washington, D.C. opening August 1, the staff is offering tenants an unconventional amenity: a furry little friend.

Emmy, a 9-month-old English bulldog known as the "Puppy Ambassador," lives at 2M Apartments and is there play with residents, host community yappy hours and pet adoptions, and just get some belly rubs and hugs.

"Emmy is important because she is what everyone is always looking for: acceptance and happiness, wrapped up in a wrinkly furry package," said Holli Beckman, Vice President of Marketing and Leasing Operations. "Every building in town has a pool and fitness center, no one else is offering unconditional love."

Beckman said the building has an internal courtyard with a dog park right off the front lobby, where residents will be able to take Emmy out to play. Although Emmy is not allowed to go to individual apartments, her permanent home is the leasing office from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. to greet residents as they come home.

The pet-friendly building also has an indoor basketball court, a café, and a private lounge, among other amenities. It has many green features including energy-efficient lighting, rooftop solar panels, and electric car charging stations.

You can follow Emmy's life as the Puppy Ambassador on her Instagram @2MPup
