For sale: Director David Lynch’s former Philadelphia home

Before David Lynch became a famous director, he attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and lived in Fairmount.

His former Fairmount home, which he lived in a decade before "Eraserhead" made its debut in 1977, is on the market for $299,900.

"It is a cute as a button trinity," said Janet Ames of RE/MAX Executive, the listing agent for the property.

Lynch, known for his dozens of films including "Elephant Man," "Blue Velvet," and "Mulholland Drive," recently remarked on his time in Philly. He told Robert Cozzolino, the senior curator of modern art at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, that he "never had what I consider an original idea until I was in Philadelphia."

The Philly home that he lived in is a corner property on the 2400 block of Aspen Street. Ames said the 810-square-foot home is technically a one bedroom with a living room and guest room.

The home has one room on each floor – the defining feature of a trinity. The three-story home also has a semi-finished basement and a fenced-in private garden with a brick patio.

"It's a unique house," Ames said. "It's not a great house for a family, because it essentially has one bedroom, but it's great for a couple or a single person who loves the city life."

Ames said that the current owner is selling the home because she relocated for her job. The prior owners did a complete renovation about a decade ago, adding in a gourmet kitchen and upgrading the bathrooms.
