Fairmount home sales hold up as hottest 'hood for real estate

According to the number crunchers at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach, Fairmount remains at the top of the list for volume in Center City home sales through the second quarter. The firm is reporting that 243 homes have sold in the neighborhood since January and that the median sales price has crept up to $310,000.

Median sales prices are up almost universally on the five-neighborhood list. Second in volume – but of course, first in cost – is Rittenhouse, where 174 homes have sold at a half-million dollar median price. Old City and the combo zip code covering NoLibs and Fishtown are both up as well. Washington Square, which has been the fifth-hottest neighborhood all year, is down slightly from $337,00 to $325,500.

The BHHS folks have also produced an easy-to-geek-out-to map where you can compare volume, prices and days on the market for Philadelphia and the surrounding 12 counties in 2015 as well as 2014. For more detailed and county-specific reports, check out their repository of data here.
