Gloucester Catholic's Brue commits to St. Joseph's

Gloucester Catholic rising senior John Brue, a first-team All-South Jersey selection as a junior, has committed to attend St. Joseph's on a baseball scholarship, according to GC coach Dennis Barth.

Brue, a left-handed hitting first baseman, batted .551 as Gloucester Catholic went 31-2 and won the NP-B state title. The Rams were the No. 1 team in The Inquirer Top 10 and also were in the Top 25 in a couple of national rankings.

Brue had 54 hits with 56 RBIs and 42 runs. He hit nine homers and 10 doubles.

Brue has missed much of the Brooklawn American Legion season with a leg injury.

Brue is one of three Gloucester Catholic rising seniors who have made college commitments. Second baseman Joe Brooks has committed to East Carolina and third baseman Brett Tenuto to Stony Brook.
