Washington D.C. wants to host Olympics, too
But that doesn't necessarily mean we should go around flaunting how impenetrable we are. Nevertheless, there is a movement in charge of getting the 2024 Olympic games - the same that have Philly's interest - to Washington D.C.
They're called #DC2024, something that looks far more like a file name or completely unsubtle short story in a science fiction writing class.
We know now what hosting the Olympics can do to a city, so translating that cynical aftermath onto the city housing our most important treasures, buildings, secrets, and leaders seems a bit of a risk. Especially when you consider - as it will be cited multiple times as this process goes - the last time the U.S. hosted the Summer Games, there was a bombing.
But, to borrow the logic of anyone concerned of the Olympics trampling Philadelphia into dust, any decision is years away, and both cities are not heated contenders.
