New Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer coming at halftime of Eagles-Giants game

The Force is about to be strong with Philadelphia.

As if the hype leading up to the Eagles Monday night matchup against the Giants wasn't enough, Disney confirmed that a new trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will be aired during halftime. It will also reportedly be aired simultaneously on the big screen at Lincoln Financial Field.

If that's not enough to wet your whistle, Disney has released mini-previews of new Star Wars footage that will be included in Monday night's trailer (yes, we live in a world where we have trailers of trailers).

ESPN, which is owned by Disney, appears to be going all out promoting the game. I've heard from two separate sources that the network is planning on making all the screen graphics and on-air animations Star Wars themed, including a riff on the famed opening crawl.

Immediately after the trailer airs, fans will be able to purchase advance tickets online for the film, which opens December 18.

Disney also released the film's official movie poster, which sadly is not painted by famed movie artist Drew Struzan and has one notable omission - Luke Skywalker:

John Boyega, who plays Finn in the film, shared a brief glimpse of the new trailer:
