New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Brodeur named NHL '14 cover athlete

EA Sports's NHL '14  cover vote has come to an end after a long online and twitter voting campaign that began on April 22.

On Friday, EA Sports finally announced who would be on the poster boy on their latest NHL videogame. The New Jersey Devils' goaltender Martin Brodeur is this year's cover athlete.

He edged out Columbus Blue Jackets, and former Flyers, goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky in the final round of the voting. This will be the first time a goaltender will be on the cover since John Vanbiesbrock was on it back in 1997 when he played for the Florida Panthers.

Brodeur has played his entire career with the Devils franchise, who drafted him in the 1990 entry-level draft. Brodeur has been very successful during his long and storied career as has led the team to three Stanley Cups. He also has won the Vezina Trophy four times.
