Don Bell returns to CBS3 to replace Beasley Reece

Earlier this summer, CBS3 axed sports director Beasley Reece as part of a station-wide turnover of talent that claimed many big on-air personalities. Now, just in time for football season, it has gone with a familiar face to replace him.

Don Bell, who last served as a sports anchor and reporter for CBS3 from 2005 to 2010, has been hired as the station's sports director. His first day will be Sunday, September 13th, a day before the Eagles open up their season against the Atlanta Falcons.

"I miss how this town lives and dies with every big victory or crushing defeat," Bell said in a statement. "You can learn a lot of things in life, but you can't teach passion. Philly overflows with it."

With football season bearing down, it was important for CBS3 to fill the void left by Reece's departure. Recently, the station has leaned heavily on weekend anchor Lesley Van Arsdall and new-hire Pat Gallen to hold down their sports coverage.

Bell returns to Philadelphia after a stint with Fox Sports 1 in Los Angeles where he was the anchor of FOX Sports Live and in-studio anchor for FOX College Hoops. Prior to that, he spent three years at ESPN as a SportsCenter host on ESPN News.
