DeSean Jackson was one of the guests on Adam Schefter's latest NFL podcast for ESPN. Of course, they talked about what could happen with Jackson heading into free agency, and whether Jackson could return to the Eagles.

Here are some of the highlights. You can listen the full interview here, starting at the 25:19 mark.

On what he thinks of Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz:

I think right now, the NFC East has some great quarterbacks in it. You know, you can go all the way across the board. Carson Wentz, he came in and had a heck of a year as a rookie. I don't think a lot of people saw that coming. You had Sam Bradford who was there and ended up getting traded to Minnesota.

He [Wentz] didn't have no choice but to step up and be that guy, but that was a gutsy call for the organization, already believing in a young guy like that, just came out of college and give him that shot. I think he killed it. He did lights out. He had a heck of a year. So definitely, he showed me he can do it, and he has all the intangibles of being a big-time quarterback in this league.

On speculation that he could return to Philadelphia this year, and how he would feel about going back to the Eagles at some point:

It definitely is a great story. And I guess you can say, starting your career somewhere, and all this, going to a division rival team, and having the possibility of maybe going back - I mean, you just kind of think about all that. You started somewhere, maybe you want to finish it.

There's a lot of speculation, a lot of thoughts. All that sounds good, but you really never know until the final decision is made. I'm just a firm believer that you work hard, you put in the work, you continuously go out there and show what you're capable of doing. I think the sky's the limit for me.

My agent, Joel Segal, is in a great position. I'm in a great position. Really, I'm just going to let him be the expertise guy. He's the one with all the experience, he's been doing this for plenty of years. So with the conversations we've been having, it's great on our end.

The best thing we need to do is just stand and [be] ready, me continuously working out. From there, we'll just sit back and see what teams are put out there.

On what being released by the Eagles taught him as he heads into free agency:

Well, that year was a little different. I feel that was just an unfortunate time for me in my life. But you know, if you want to back before then, we can go back to, I think 2011 [it was actually 2012] when I was going to be a free agent and the Eagles franchised me and we worked out a deal, and made a deal happen for five years, $50 million something [$51 million, to be precise]. But I only ended up playing two years there.

When I got released in 2013, I just felt that was an unfortunate situation for me. I just think the organization, the team was going in a different direction. And it's just the nature of this business. It's how things go.

So as far as what I learned from then, I really just, like I said, just do everything the right way. Put your best foot forward and show teams that you're still a guy that can go out there and make plays, and not be a problem guy.
