250 friends of the KIPP Philadelphia Schools put on platform shoes and wild prints to disco for the 10th anniversary 1970s-themed "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" gala on Saturday, April 26, 2014.

KIPP, the "Knowledge is Power Program," is a nationwide initiative currently reaching 50,000 students in grades K-12, and is designed to prepare students for college. 10 years ago, KIPP Philadelphia began as a small class of 90 students and has grown to four schools, with plans to open six more schools by 2016.

The bash took place at the National Museum of American Jewish History. KIPP honored film director M. Night Shyamalan and his wife, Dr. Bhavna Vaswani for their foundation’s work. Grammy Award Winner Thelma Houston, the KIPP Band, and a DJ provided the groovy tunes. The Garces Group catered dinner, and the Vetri Foundation donated a raffle prize of a chef’s table for 12 at Osteria.
