Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow sequel/spinoff in the works?

The respective present and ex-partner of Brad Pitt could be pairing up in a new project that might shake the film biz world. Or not.

Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow sequel/spinoff in the works?

Salt, the new spy-on-the-run thriller starring Angelina Jolie as CIA agent (and suspected Russian mole) Evelyn Salt, has an ending that leaves the door – make that a helicopter hatch -- open to a sequel. But what about bringing Jolie’s Bourne-again action hero together with one of the much-loved side characters from the Iron Man series?

There has to be an audience for a new action spy superhero mash-up franchise teaming Jolie’s resilient espionage ace with Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts character, gal Friday to Robert Downey Jr.’s industrialist Tony Stark, right? The title of this dream duo’s surefire blockbuster? Yup: Salt and Pepper, which you have to admit makes a lot more sense than Knight and Day.

(And yes, opening credits number to be rapped by the hip-hop pair behind “Push It” and “Shake Your Thang.” )
