What they're saying about the Eagles
Sheil Kapadia, Philly.com
Here's this week's roundup of what the national media are saying about the Eagles:
Mike Freeman of CBSSports.com has released his list of the NFL's 10 biggest jerks. Two Eagles, DeSean Jackson and Michael Vick, make the list. Jackson at six, and Vick at No. 1:
When is Vick allowed to move on? When is that threshold from criminal to forgiven criminal crossed? To some, it already has. But to many, like me, though it's clear that Vick has changed, the crime was so disgraceful, more time is still needed to make sure the change I've seen in him is not an act but permanent. There's almost a simple formula here to follow. The worse the crime, the more time it takes for the re-evaluation.
This is an arrogant approach for me and others, particularly since everyone judging Vick has made their own errors. But there are mistakes and then there are mistakes. For Vick, it will still take more time.
Matt Williamson of ESPN.com looks into his crystal ball and projects the top 15 pass rushers in 2015. He's got Trent Cole barely making the list at No. 15:
Cole is a fantastic, underrated player and pass-rusher. But will that hold true three years from now? Cole turns 30 this season, but he was a fantastic presence rushing the passer in 2011. Plus, the Eagles now have plenty of defensive end options to help spell Cole (and Jason Babin) and extend his career. From the honorable mention group, Chandler Jones was the one I thought had the best chance of being on this list ahead of an aging 2015 version of Cole.
Vick came in at No. 20 in Peter Schrager's Top 100 players list on FoxSports.com:
Vick in the top 25? You better believe it. He still strikes fear in the hearts of NFL coaches and defenders everywhere. And though the Eagles slipped and stumbled out of the gate in 2011, Philly finished the season with four straight victories and four straight mesmerizing performances out of Vick. With a full offseason to work with teammates, a healthy crew of receivers and a focus on the NFC East crown — don’t be shocked when Vick turns in the best season of his career.
Doug Farrar of Yahoo Sports takes a look at the 10 best third-day draft picks from 2011. Jason Kelce and Brian Rolle both make his list (Kelce at No. 2 and Rolle at No. 3):
A former walk-on linebacker at Cincinnati. Kelce turned himself into a draftable offensive lineman with pure tenacity. He beat incumbent Jamaal Jackson for the starting job in Eagles camp, and impressed legendary line coach Howard Mudd enough to become the Eagles' first center to start his first NFL game since 1968. Kelce played very well through injuries, and Mudd may have his next Jeff Saturday if Kelce can stay healthy.
Brian McIntyre of NFL.com has the contract details for Eagles safety Oshiomogho Atogwe. He'll make the league minimum ($825,000) with $100,000 fully guaranteed.
In case you missed it from today's Daily News, the crew that runs the Cowboys' Web site had a little birthday message for Vick.

Mike Freeman, grow up. I'm a dog lover too, but Vick as most hated? This is a media hanging. How about pro football murderers, drunks, rapists, paid assasins? Crimes against people. Give us a break! dmoses
It's been a few months since we had THIS article..so I guess it was due to be regurgitated.
As for the whole Big Ben vs. Vick thing...creep vs. convicted felon, not even close.
Dean Winchester- You dam right it's not even close, raping a woman is a far worse, Ben is much more than just a creep, he's a rapist, fact is had Vick been of accused of doing what Ben did, he would have got life, and the authorities would have made sure the victim pressed charges.............you can bank that.

Projecting the top 15 pass rushers in 2015???? What a waste of time, energy, and brain cells.. jphillyg
Whoever would listen to a moron like Mike Freeman ? jjthree
Vick was a scapegoat for a common problem. He was FAR from the only professional athlete to bet on dog fighting. I saw an interview with Clinton Portis where he said everything except "yeah I did it too" when Vick first got in trouble for it. Does that make it right? Of course not. But he owned up to it and served his time. Scumbag Roethlisberger did everything in his power to weasel his way out of not one but two sexual assault charges, which in my humble opinion is way worse than abusing an animal. By the way, I'm white AND I own a dog. Cheesesteak- AMEN

Comment removed.
@Charmaine. No you did not answer the question. Why do you bring Rothlisberger into this when we all agree that he is a dreg. The anti Vick people are not defending him. Your logic is that if Rothlisberger and Nalley are WORST dregs than Vick than Vick is OK. Kioto- You missed the entire point. I brought up Roethlisberger because he got away with rape not once but twice. Never said what Vick did was "ok" but I did say what Nalley was accused of, which people like not to talk, if they know and being the concerned animal lovers they claim to be they should know the crimes Nally committed against animals. Vick manned up to his, can't say the same thing about Roethlisberger, he lied and paid his way out of once, turned around and did it again. Hell yeah what he did was worse.
charmaine - All of us curs have always barked about how "dog's best friend" has never backed us up when it comes to the killing machine on four legs. Pit Bulls are a menace to dogciety and should be eliminated. Occupy Dog Street.
Cheesesteak....you may be white and own a dog but all you are is a dumb, white dog owner. You think us "haters" hate Vick for simply the dog fighting alone. I think it's safe to assume most of the haters hate him for what he did to the dogs that lost the fights. Vick is a wild animal who should be kept in a cage, not quarterbacking the Eagles. Can't wait 'til he's carted off the field for good one day, you DUMB WHITE BOY!! The Dude Abides
The only difference between Vick and some of these other guys is that you can't pay off animals. Period. Got something to say about Vick and the Eagles? Post your team, I'm sure we can provide you plenty of rap sheet to ponder. Especially Dallas. Have fun in your glass houses. voodoochile75
People act like Vick is STILL killing dogs... just a guess, but I imagine we don't have too many forgiving Christian types on here-- Matt 6:15 and all that. operagost
