Updated Eagles playoff scenarios

The Eagles' 45-19 win over the Jets, combined with the Redskins' 23-10 win over the Giants kept the Birds' playoff hopes alive for another week.
Here's a look at what needs to now happen for the Eagles to win the division:
- The Eagles need to finish the season 2-0 against the Cowboys (away) and Redskins (home).
- The Cowboys need to finish the season 0-2 against the Eagles (home) and Giants (away).
- The Giants need to lose to the Jets next week (technically away, but same stadium), but beat the Cowboys (home) in Week 17.
One other item of note: The Jets play the Giants at 1 p.m. next Saturday. The Eagles play the Cowboys at 4:15 p.m. That means the Birds will know by kickoff whether they still have a shot at the division or not.
I know some of you have asked about the wild card. The Eagles were mathematically eliminated from that race when the Lions beat the Raiders this evening. Both the Lions and Falcons have nine wins. The best the Eagles can do is eight.
So it's the division or nothing.

@Brenden...The majority of fans have had enough of Andy Reid and they know the only or the best chance of ridding him is to lose as many games as possible. When the fans boo this team and the players and talk of wanting the team to lose, it is all a reflection of their hatred for Andy Reid. The fans are fed up after thirteen years and all of the recent bad decisions over the last two years made by Reid. billro33
Accept it. We are not a playoff caliber team this year. Those not playing or coaching up to their potential, too numerous to count. With that, the Captain (Reid) needs to go. Maybe then the players will exhibit some hunger and be responsible for both good and bad performances. Funny how players seem to respond when either their job is on the line or their coach demands their best to keep them on the field. I didn't see either of those this year, and the results are telling. You would think that being a "professional" would be adequate for all, players and coaches, to prepare and perform to a level that they and we fans could be proud of. Ed Cornpropst
Disagree with Ed Cornpropst and others a bit; this is a playoff caliber team that didn't play like it this year. An average performance by them and they'd be in the driver's seat for the division as well as being in better shape vs conference foes (most obvious should-have-been wins vs Atl & SF). Any draft pick better than 16 would be a Xmas gift IF they call up Ray Rhodes for help finding defenders with heart. KNuff
How about we stop speculating about playoffs? Bruce in NM- Eagles fans should be happy with the way today played out. It's obvious now that the birds have a great chance to win the division and then the SB because they're tight like that. Sam Crow
- first, beat the cowboys...
Now I know what was meant by "Dream Team". sillybilly
As crazy as it seems....the Eagles havwe a good shot at the division, and I truly think will win the division IF the Giants lose to the Jets. I do think the Eagles will win out, and am certain Dallas isnt going to the meadowlands Jan 1st and winning. Sooo...if the Jets can beat the Giaints, I think the Eagles got it. Mark my words, if that happens Eagles WILL win the division. Big D phillies fan

All right Jets, get your act back and beat the jints. mikemaddog
Win or loose, score a thousand points or none. Playoffs or none. The Eagles are my team, even if I was the only one to like them. If half the critics had any talent, they might be playing in the NFL today. Go Eagles. denjamr
With all the nonsense talked about the fans cheering against the Eagles at home, tanking it for a better draft pick, and what not, it seemed like a good majority of the crowd was cheering for them to win. Seems like only internet nerds and the spineless philly media who perpetuate negativity and profit off of controversy are the minority cheering against them. The media is good at it by the way, because majority are morons and they always fall for it. december77
Too little, too late. "If" they had not blown so many winnable games during the season.... kelprod2
Stephen Hawkins has been consulted and provided the mathamatical formula for the Eales to make the playoff:700 level thinkers and true fans will easily digest this!
