Updated Eagles playoff scenarios

The Eagles' 45-19 win over the Jets, combined with the Redskins' 23-10 win over the Giants kept the Birds' playoff hopes alive for another week.

Here's a look at what needs to now happen for the Eagles to win the division:

  1. The Eagles need to finish the season 2-0 against the Cowboys (away) and Redskins (home).

  2. The Cowboys need to finish the season 0-2 against the Eagles (home) and Giants (away).

  3. The Giants need to lose to the Jets next week (technically away, but same stadium), but beat the Cowboys (home) in Week 17.

One other item of note: The Jets play the Giants at 1 p.m. next Saturday. The Eagles play the Cowboys at 4:15 p.m. That means the Birds will know by kickoff whether they still have a shot at the division or not.

I know some of you have asked about the wild card. The Eagles were mathematically eliminated from that race when the Lions beat the Raiders this evening. Both the Lions and Falcons have nine wins. The best the Eagles can do is eight.

So it's the division or nothing.
