Talking depth chart, secondary and Kolb

POSTED: Wednesday, June 16, 2010, 2:07 PM

Earlier today, I did a little video Q&A with Noah Coslov of CineSport. We recapped OTAs and took a look ahead at issues the Birds will face at training camp. Among the topics discussed: concerns about the defensive secondary and early impressions of Kevin Kolb.

I'm welcome to any feedback you might have. Hopefully will be doing these weekly as we count down to Lehigh.

Earlier I posted five thoughts on the Eagles' offense.

I have full confidence in Kevin Kolb and this young offense as well as the Defense. If Brandon Graham and Trent Cole as well as that Defensive Line can get pressure on the quaterback, it will take alot of pressure off the cornerbacks. Can't wait for Training Camp to get here.

Eagles will be fine,, a learning curve? Sure.. I’m not expecting a SB however one will be fast approaching.. i love the direction this team is heading... we need loyal fan support, naysayers need not apply. This organization for the past 13 years has given us a chance to win,, sure they fell short but the Eagles have been the only team in those years to give their fans a reason to be hopeful each and every year.. Like all organizations the Eagles are in the business of making a profit,,, we’re a capitalist country,, are the naysayers not a fan of profit? I cant thank the FO enough for all the excitement they have given me and my children each and every football season.. Go Eagles!

It is crucial that the offense stay on the field and dominate the game clock, which means a strong blocking front seven and power run game. Too many 3 and outs, putting this defense back out there more often than it can stand and we're sunk. One more draft class should fill in obvious weaknesses and give them some depth. Sorry, 1-14-1

I think it's a safe bet to say that Kolb will be fine. Really, he doesn't even have to be as good as McNabb was for this offense to click. Plus, I'm one of the many who believe Kolb's skill set is tailor made for this offense. As far as the INT's, most of those will come from his inexperience of reading defenses. But as the year goes on, w/ experience, he should quickly overcome that and interceptions won't even be an issue anymore...as far as the DB's, well that's a ? across the board, with Mikell looking like the most solid of the bunch.

Ha, this is a rebuilding team. It cracks me up that fans actually far for this nonsense. Kolb will be a backup QB in another year.

my biggest fear is decapitation of the munchkins as they stride over the middle to catch those perfectly thrown passes from the accurate arm of the new savior. there has never been a WCO team make the super bowl without a starting 6'2" or taller WR.

1-14-1? You need WR's taller than 6-2? You fools are crazy! This team has been retooling for a few years now...the entire O-line except Herremans, the defensive backfield except for Mickell. Kolb, Celek, Jackson, McCoy, and Weaver all became starters in the past two seasons. This team has more young talent than I can ever remember all at one time. The team has replaced 15 of 22 starters from 3 seasons ago without any let down so far(11-5 last season).

Hitting them in stride, putting the ball in their hands on the first cut, on crossing paterns underneath, all the things McNabb couldn't do!

1-14-1? Anything is possible in the NFL, but I don't see us getting less than 5 wins. More than 10 wins also seems highly unlikely. This team is very very young. QB is maybe the least of our worries. And we don't know yet if the team is talented enough even to do well in 2011. We gotta be healthy, and that's where I have the least confidence in the Eagles' brain trust. Do they know how to protect the Bradleys and Ingrams, and can they bring in free agents who haven't had major leg injuries? I don't smell even a hint of a Super Bowl victory two or three years down the road. Easy to root for the Birds, but I wouldn't bet any money on them.

What does "far for this nonsense" mean?

The Eagles can change out all the players they want but it will not make a significant difference as long as Fat Andy is the coach. His stupid, outdated, west coast offense is not a winning system anymore.

"Reality Speaks" true...I won't *far* for this nonsense either.

Anything less than a playoff spot will show front office made terrible offseason moves. I am not giving Kolb "a few years to development". People expect this guy to be the next great thing, so I expect all blame to go towards him after loses, much like it was for McNabb
