Pats land Haynesworth; Bush to Miami?

The Eagles can forget about any plans they might have had to land Albert Haynesworth.

The Redskins defensive tackle is headed to New England. The Patriots have acquired Haynesworth for a fifth-round pick in 2013, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

There had been multiple reports in previous weeks that Washington wanted to trade Haynesworth, rather than release him, because the Redskins didn't want him to land in Philadelphia with Jim Washburn.

They were successful in finding a trade partner, even though the Redskins won't see a return for Haynesworth until the 2013 draft.

My take all along had been that the Eagles should explore the possibility of acquiring Haynesworth if the Redskins released him. A trade seemed too risky, given his history, and the fact that Haynesworth is due a reported $5.4M in 2011.

Defensive end is still a bigger need than defensive tackle. Antonio Dixon was outstanding once he got a chance to play last season, and Mike Patterson is solid next to him. Brodrick Bunkley is in the final year of his contract, and Juan Castillo talked him up earlier this offseason. Trevor Laws needs to build on the improvement he showed in 2010.

FORGET ABOUT BUSH, TOO?

Reggie Bush is taking his talents to South Beach.

The Saints and Dolphins have agreed to trade terms, which are contingent on Bush being able to land a new deal with Miami, according to Jay Glazer of FoxSports.com.

The Eagles had been rumored to be interested in Bush earlier this offseason as well. I've said all along I didn't think he was coming here because Bush would have such a limited role. With that being said, I don't doubt that Andy Reid was intrigued with the idea of adding a new toy to his offense.

I ask again, where is this "aggressive" approach to free agency? Same old song just a different beat. Release Andy and sign Jon Gruden.

Yea, I was wondering where the aggressive part was as well. Things have gone so slowly that it's not too late. But, in no way does the approach look aggressive.

You hate the Eagles FO for not getting Haynesworth or Bush? The Skins weren't going to give him to a division rival and would definitely take less to get rid of their headache elsewhere. It's a good risk for the Pats and one the Eagles probably would have jumped at given the chance but it wasn't gonna happen. C'mon people, this isn't fantasy football where you want every big name out there right? The sky is not falling. Sheesh.

What if the Eagles try to get in contact with the Pats and trade for haynesworth for a 4th round pick. Andy and Bill like to trade ( see the previous 3 drafts) so the Eagles could still Haynesworth but it is a longshot.

Since Trot, Dawk, and Westbrook have gone I'm just at a lost as to trying to connect with this group of Philadelphia Eagles. A passion-less group indeed. Give me a Doug Collins, Dick Vermeil, Allen Iverson, Charles Barkley, Chase Utley type of passion any day of the week.

So the week moves on; no pickups from J"N"B; and no trades from RAJ; just great...

@joj: perhaps we will see that passion in Watkins once they let him in camp...

'IP played a quote from Lurie this morning where he said the Eagles were primed and ready to be aggressive. He said that any team that didn't have 3 or 4 guys manning phones and sending offers were going to lose out. Meanwhile, 3 days since the lockout ended, they are 1 of 3 teams to do absolutely NOTHING!! There are so many holes on this team right now, it is pathetic.

There better be a plan in place......right now this team is stripped down. Asante can't play the entire backfield of the defense, LB, DE and DT. Very disappointed thus far. If they get DRC, that is one of about five moves they need to make. By the way.....the Gold Standard team in New England just made a great move and will get max out of Albert.

There are no EAGLES in Philadelphia ONLY PIGEONS! AS much as I am a hometown guy you get jaded about the front office. We as fans see the deficiencies with current personnel and what we would like to see happen. Keep in mind, as we have just witnessed with the lockout...ECONOMICS IS KING, REVENUE IS THE QUEEN, AND SUNDAY AFTERNOON BELONGS TO VEGAS! So, what you and I think is irrelevant...unless you want to come up with a BILLION dollars to buy a team, get used to business as usual !

The Eagles got caught flatfooted on Haynesworth. Now you can see why Patriots have rings and the Eagles don't.
