It's amazing how quickly things change in the NFL, isn't it?
And we're not talking about small things. We're talking about big things, like the direction of a franchise, one that is worth $1.1 billion.
On Nov. 23, 2008, many thought Donovan McNabb's time in Philly was over. Andy Reid had just pulled his quarterback. The Eagles were 5-5-1. The fan base was in full-blown panic mode. And like it or not, it was time for the Kevin Kolb era to begin.
Or so it seemed.
Here we are less than seven months later. Minutes after the World Champion Phillies finished off a thrilling win against the Mets, the Eagles announced they had reworked the final two years of McNabb's contract.
What would the direction of the franchise be right now had Kolb played well in those 30 minutes of action?
That we will never know.
But now, this remains McNabb's team and McNabb's franchise. For two more years at least.
And so that window that we've been talking about for close to a decade stays open for a little while longer. Many of the familiar faces are gone -- Brian Dawkins, Jon Runyan, Tra Thomas, possibly Jim Johnson.
But the two most familiar faces remain. Reid and McNabb, ready to tackle Super Bowl expectations once again.
Hoping for a different end result this time.
The team has scheduled a 10 a.m. press conference Monday morning to announce the news. I'll be blogging Reid and McNabb's comments off of TV so be sure to check back.

Comment removed.- The entire incentive part of McNabb's new reworked contract should be tied to him "not choking, puking, vomiting, getting light headed, or sick in the stomach" during any playoff game. The Eagles would save the $1MM no problem because McChoke could never make it through the playoffs without, you got it, "choking." The fact is they probably offerred him an extra million for throwing 5 or more TD passes against the Detroit Lions or St. Louis Rams or some similar loser, so that he could build more worthless "career" stats. Two more years for McNabb--two more years without a Super Bowl Championship for the Eagles and this city.— Tomme
