Cowboys' Brooking forgets Eagles game

Who was out of line at the end of Cowboys-Vikings?
The Vikings
Keith Brooking
Both
Neither

With 1:55 left in yesterday's NFC divisional game, Brett Favre found tight end Visanthe Shiancoe for an 11-yard touchdown to put the Vikings up 34-3.

If you were watching, you saw Cowboys linebacker Keith Brooking run over to the Minnesota sideline and take issue with the score.

"I thought it was totally classless and disrespectful," Brooking told the Dallas Morning-News. "This is the NFL, that's not what this is about. I don't think there's a place for that ... I was looking for [Vikings head coach Brad] Childress. I didn't think it was right."

Our first thought was: Hasn't Brooking been paying attention? If nothing else, we know that Childress has nothing to do with the Vikings' offense, right? Doesn't Favre ignore his head coach and do what he wants? So Brooking probably should have been looking for No. 4.

Our second thought was: Wait a minute. Wasn't Tony Romo still throwing late in the game against the Eagles in Week 17?

And the answer is yes. We looked it up.

With about 2:30 left in that game, the Cowboys faced a 4th-and-2 from the Eagles' 35-yard line. They were up, 24-0 (the exact point differential in yesterday's game before the final TD). Dallas could have easily taken a knee and given the Eagles' offense the ball back with 2:20 left, but Romo dropped back and looked for a receiver before getting sacked by Juqua Parker.

On that day, I remember no such footage of Brooking barking at Romo or offensive coordinator Jason Garrett and lecturing them about class and respect. But maybe the cameras just didn't catch that part.

As for my opinion, I partly agree with Brooking - there's no reason for the Vikings to be throwing to the end zone at that point in the game. But I have more of a problem with him running over to the sidelines and complaining. You are a defensive player. You have the ability to stop them from scoring. Direct your energy at the right places.

I think everyone has a thought on this so chime in below and vote in the accompanying poll.

Great season by Brooking. No need to end it with whine and cheese. If you don't like being scored on, get a sack or interception. It didn't go 60 yards in the air; it was an 11 yard pass play.

And to think what Minny could have done to Dallas had they been able to establish AP and the running game? Brooking would have yelped "stop running on us so much". Crybaby. Guess he's picking up the slack for crocodile tears from TO.

Brookings is a Crybaby and deserves to be on the Cowboys. That's where all the crybaby's go to play.

Yeah, I have no problem with Childress and Co. from racking up the damage. The Cowboys were bringing the pressure to McNabb late in the game, easily knowing that the O-Line was in shambles. I kept seeing blitz after blitz in the 4th qtr.

With all the flying chest-bumps w the game long over against Philly, its kinda late for the Cowboys to complain about someone not being gracious winners. I know that's part of football now, but if you have no class yourself, how are you gonna complain about someone else.

What a difference a week makes. The cryboys acted like the won the SB last week when they crushed us. If they didn't like the full 60 minute Viking beat down they shouldn't have used all three timeouts to prolong their own agony.

When Brooking gets sent to jail, as most Cowboys players do, the Tonner wonders if Brooking is going to complain to the warden about having done to him what Favre did to him yesterday? He will receive the same sympathy from the warden.

IF you don't like other teams running up the score, then stop them from scoring. Don't cry about it after the game and act like you and your team are holier than thou. What a DB.

Typical Cowboy. No problems if they are on the giving end but cries of injustice if they are on the receiving end. That is just another reason why I hate them..

I see absolutely no problem with Minn running up the score and giving thier fans more to cheer about. 7 points at that point to mean anything. Cowboys are just soar losers.
