Earlier Wednesday, in an episode of That's What He Said, Bob Ford of the Inquirer and Marcus Hayes of the Daily News answered the question: Which NFL player would have the biggest impact if added to the Eagles' roster?

Bob chose Packers linebacker/defensive end Clay Matthews.

Well, he's not leaving Green Bay, but the Eagles are showing some level of interest in his brother, Casey.

Oregon linebacker Casey Matthews will be in Philadelphia Thursday for an official visit, according to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post.

NFL teams are allowed to have 30 prospects in for official visits.

Matthews (6-1, 231) was a first-team All-Pac 10 selection as a senior, piling up 73 tackles, three sacks and three interceptions. He suffered a shoulder injury during the combine.

Wes Bunting of the National Football Post has Matthews rated as his sixth-best inside linebacker.

Below are some YouTube highlights of him at Oregon.

Meanwhile, Nebraska safety DeJon Gomes tells KFFL.com that he also has a visit scheduled with the Birds.

Gomes (6-0, 208) had 93 tackles, two forced fumbles and three interceptions as a senior. Bunting has him ranked as the seventh-best free safety prospect.

Earlier Wednesday, I had a post that mentioned Cam Newton, DeSean Jackson, Jimmy Smith and Chris T. Jones.

He's rough around the edges in that he's missed too many tackles and he's not exceptional big or fast. But I like his instincts and talent. He would be a good mid-round pick. With good coaching in the right system he could become a very good LB.

he is the exact type of player that they need.... a guy with a nose for the ball, and seems to be a solid tackler. He even looks like his brother when you watch him

There's no such thing as an average Matthews in the NFL...they are all good! I'd take a chance on this guy!

Good bloodline. Anything close to Clay would be an upgrade over our LBs. Actually, even real clay might be an upgrade.

tpizza, you know I'm on board with this guy. All the Matthews are good players. They just have football instincta that come natural to them. I think Eagle fans would be happy if they selected him.

The Birds defense really needs a kid like this, Explosive, Fast and a good nose for the football.

Will be good with good coaching, but being a LB and since it would be the right choice, our coach will select someone else. Am I right?

Seeing that the eagles first pick will probably be somewhere in the 7th round, chances are slim to none on getting him .

You can't compare him to his brother. This guy is only 6' 1" and 230 lbs. And they may be his (inflated) college #'s. Can anybody confirm these are combine #'s for his size? Eagles need a power guy like his brother. Let's not get carried away because of the last name. The rest of the NFL Matthew's are all bigger men!
