APP ONLY: Could players follow Washburn?

One of the most interesting aspects of the Eagles adding defensive line coach Jim Washburn today was the reaction the move got from the national media, and from Washburn's former players.

Two specific names that have been mentioned: Jason Babin and Albert Haynesworth.

You know Babin's story by now. He joined the Eagles at Lehigh before the 2009 season and was part of the defensive line rotation in pass-rushing situations. After the season, he inked a one-year deal with the Titans and notched 12.5 sacks and a Pro Bowl berth.

Babin seemed legitimately devastated by the news that Washburn was leaving Tennessee. But would he consider following him?

"There's been no 'Hey Jason, we want you in Philly' discussions, but it would be hard for me not to contemplate it," Babin told Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean.

Is he ruling out a return to the Titans since Washburn won't be there?

"There's no hard line, but it's like 'Dang, Wash was my coach.' So we'll see."

The other name that's come up is Albert Haynesworth. Haynesworth had his most productive years under Washburn, totaling 14.5 sacks in his last two seasons there. After a disastrous 2010 with the Redskins, Washington could very well part ways with him, and multiple national reporters mentioned the Eagles as a potential landing spot.

Don't forget - according to Adam Caplan of FoxSports.com, the Redskins tried to include Haynesworth in the initial Donovan McNabb deal last season, but the Birds didn't want him.

There are certainly restrictions in terms of player movement this offseason, but once (if) a new CBA is reached, it'll be interesting to see how the hiring of Washburn affects personnel decisions.
