Roads scholar: the all around Lower Merion edition

Watch out, Lower Merion drivers. Roads are closed all over the township. Here's a list of many of them.

This just in from Lower Merion regarding road closures in the township. I print it here in its entirety to help drivers avoid these spots.

"Previously scheduled road closures in Lower Merion Township for resurfacing and sewer maintenance, combined with closures due to downed trees and PECO wires from recent storms, have created more closures than usual this month.

"The following is a list of known closures and restrictions. The list is subject to change with short notice:

"-Friday (July 11th): From 9 a.m. to noon, westbound Lancaster Avenue will be closed from Buck Lane to Old Lancaster Road. Traffic will be diverted to one lane each way in the eastbound lanes. Emergency vehicles should not be affected.

"- Friday (July 11th): From 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Rittenhouse Place between Lancaster Avenue and Cricket Terrace will be closed for water main restoration. Rittenhouse Place will be open from Cricket Terrace south to E. Athens Avenue.

"-Mill Creek Road in Gladwyne was closed this past Monday (July 7th) between Rose Glen Road and River Road for repairs to the Schuylkill Expressway underpass, and will remain closed for up to three weeks. Machinery and equipment will be on the roadway. Emergency vehicles, residents, and buses will not have access. The contractor will open the road over the weekends if possible. This lower stretch of Mill Creek Road does not have any residential homes near the work area.

"-Weather permitting, work continues through Friday, July 11th, and again on Monday, July 14th, on Roberts Road in Bryn Mawr. It will be closed from Lancaster Avenue to County Line Road for the installation of sanitary sewer laterals. The road will be closed to all traffic, including emergency vehicles, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on those days. Residents will have access to Roberts Road from either Lancaster Avenue or County Line Road. The road will be open to traffic over the weekend.

"-Weather permitting, through Friday, July 11th, Hathaway Lane in Wynnewood is closed from Kent Road to Aubrey Road for the milling and paving of the road. The road is closed between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Residents and emergency vehicles will have access.

"-The Mill Creek Road bridge over Mill Creek, also known as the "S Bridge," is scheduled for repairs beginning Monday, July 14th. Weather permitting, this project is anticipated to take two to three months for completion. During this time, Mill Creek Road will be closed continuously to all vehicles from Old Gulph Road to Righters Mill Road. There will be access to the West Mill Creek Park parking lot during this time.

"Other, storm-affected Township roadways remain closed as of midday Thursday, July 10th. In addition, the main paving season starts Monday (July 14th), which will cause traffic delays and intermittent closures. The paving list will be posted on the Township's website, www.LowerMerion.org."
