Power pedalers for Friday's commute

At least one Montco commissioner promises to participate in "Bike to Work Day."

When you drive to work Friday morning, leave plenty of room for all the bikers -- or you could join them, since it's "Bike to Work Day."

Whether your commute takes off on two wheels or four, keep an eye out for two ladies pedaling toward Norristown in pantsuit and law enforcement uniform – they're probably Montco Commissioner Leslie Richards and Sheriff Eileen Behr.

Richards said she and Behr had fun bike-commuting last year and got more people to join their caravan this year.  They and Commissioner Josh Shapiro will lead a group from Spring Mill SEPTA station to Norristown at 7:45 a.m.

Commissioner Bruce Castor, ever the contrarian, joked that he would be driving his Ferrari to work.  But in fact he will be leading a bike caravan from Lower Perkiomen Valley Park, at 7:35 a.m.

Happy pedaling!
