More bridge inspections

PennDOT plans more bridge inspections in Montgomery County and in Philadelphia. That'll mean more closed lanes and detours.

More bridge inspections

This just in, verbatim, from PennDOT:

I-95 Bridge Inspections Scheduled in Philadelphia and Montgomery County

King of Prussia – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that lane restrictions are scheduled next week in Philadelphia and Montgomery County for a series of bridge inspections.

The upcoming work schedule is:

  • Saturday (Aug. 24) – The right lane will be closed on southbound Interstate 95 between Broad Street and Island Avenue in Philadelphia from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.;
  • Monday (Aug. 26) – The right lane will be closed on southbound Interstate 476 between Interstate 76 and Ridge Pike in West Conshohocken Borough and Plymouth Township, Montgomery County from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.;
  • Tuesday (Aug. 27) – The left lane will be closed on southbound I-476 between Interstate 76 and Ridge Pike in West Conshohocken Borough and Plymouth Township, Montgomery County from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and
  • Wednesday (Aug 28) – The right lane will be closed on southbound I-476 between Interstate 76 and Ridge Pike in West Conshohocken Borough and Plymouth Township, Montgomery County from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-95 motorists are advised to allow more time for travel in areas where bridge inspections are taking place because slowdowns will occur.

The inspections are part of PennDOT’s program to inspect all state bridges at least once every two years.  The inspections ensure the safety and condition of the bridges.

PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to this PennDOT website or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on major highways before heading out.
