Andrea Lawton, the ex-cleaning lady who stole a valuable bust of Benjamin Franklin from the Bryn Mawr home where she worked, has a change of plea hearing today in federal court.

Andrea Lawton, the ex-cleaning lady who stole a valuable bust of Benjamin Franklin from the Bryn Mawr home where she worked, has a change of plea hearing today in federal court. She had pled guilty.

She will appear before U.S. Distrct Court Judge Darnell Jones in Philadelphia.

Lawton was arrested Sept. 21 in Elkton, Md. She eventually told police she had taken the bust. worth $3 million, out of anger that her boss had fired her. The bust was recovered, but had cracks in it.

In federal court, she is charged with illegally transporting a stolen object across state lines, as she took the bust to Alabama and Maryland. She is charged in Lower Merion with burglary, theft conspiracy, criminal trespass, and theft by receiving stolen property.
