Barefaced & Beautiful Without & Within Campaign

Today I wrote a story about The Renfrew Center Foundation For Eating Disorders Barefaced & Beautiful Without & Within campaign. The folks at the Renfrew Center want us to go makeup free today as in cleanse, moisturize and go. But if you really want to bring attention to the cause, go makeup free the entire week in honor of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week.

When makeup becomes a crutch for women - putting on a full face to go the gym - it can be a sign her self-esteem is in the toilet.

And low self-esteem can lead to poor body image and that can lead  to eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia.

I think this Barefaced & Beautiful campaign is a great idea.

So I decided to go bare faced today. I thought it would be easy. After all, most of the time I just wear a little lipstick. but it was tough to see myself in a picture - that would be posted on line without a hint of color. No blush. No gloss. No foundation. Nothing.

But hey, I'm a tough cookie. And a pretty one at that.

So ladies, take some time this week to post your makeup free pics on FB and on Twitter #barefacedbeauty

And guys, tell your moms, sisters and especially your girlfriends they are beautiful with and without makeup, inside and out.

About this blog

I’m a Libra so I’m all about pretty things. We of the scales sign know what we like, and our standards are high.

So I can’t help but love fashion – one day I will get that Diane von Furstenberg wrap and those Christian Louboutin shoes.

And fragrances? My favorite right now is Chanel Mademoiselle. As for makeup, can we say MAC?

So let’s thank the Greek goddess of beauty, Aphrodite, that a true fashionista can find everything she needs right here in Philly.

I’ve covered fashion here for six years, and I have traveled to New York, Los Angeles and Paris to write about local and national designers. Let me tell you, there is no place where people wear midnight Eagles green or Phillies red with such wild abandon as they do on the west side of the Ben Franklin Bridge.

Sound familiar? This blog is for you.
