Toots & the Maytals at the Blockley Tonight

Reggae legend Frederick "Toots" Hibbert leads his band The Maytals into the Blockley Pourhouse on 38th Street in University City tonight.

Reggae legend Frederick "Toots" Hibbert leads his band The Maytals into the Blockley Pourhouse on 38th Street in University City tonight. Along with Tommy Conwell, that will make Toots - once known as the "Otis Redding of Jamaica" for his raspy soul man style - one of a handful of acts to have played the Blockley and the old Chestnut Cabaret, which was located in the same building. Lukas Nelson, whose reggae loving father Willie has dueted with Hibbert in the past, and his band Promise of the Real, is one of three opening acts. "Sweet and Dandy," one of two timeless Toots compositions on the 1972 The Harder They Come soundtrack, is below. Show details of the Jamaican Dave production are here.
