Bummer. The reason? The rain. The press release says, "With the record rainfall the city has seen over the last month and the expected rain scheduled for the rest of the week, the ground will simply be oversaturated with water.  In an effort to save the park from thousands of people congregating over 2 days in the excessively wet area and still be able to bring a safe, exciting event to Philadelphia, the decision was made to move the POPPED! Music Festival to the Liacouras Center."

Presumably - or at least hopefully - all the bands, DJs, food vendors and comedians will make the trip to the other end of the Broad Street line. The old schedule is kaput, the Popped! web site promises a revised one with be announced shortly. Look for abundant coverage in the Inquirer's Wkend section on Friday, with interviews with Animal Collective's Panda Bear and ?uestlove. Updates will be posted here as they become available.

That's a picture of the Shins, who brought their life preservers in case it gets really wet.
