Diblo Dibala at PIFA

I was on my way to Neil Young at the Tower by then, so I didn't see Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings tear it up female-James Brown style at the PIFA Street Fair on Saturday. I did catch a bit of a sharp set by Portland, Oregon humanist punks The Thermals earlier in the day, however. And more to the point, I saw all of great Zairean guitarist Diblo Dibala's ebullient Pan-African band's performance, as the guitarist - he's the one dressed for a yacht cruise, with Josephine Baker, Rocky and a soft pretzel behind him  - and his three-piece band and wondrous dancers shook up the Sansom street stage, soukous style.
