Lawmaker in bed with lobbyists: Update
California legislator caught on camera bragging about having sex with utility company lobbyists. He had to resign.
In case you haven't seen it, here's a CBS report showing part of the videotape of California State Rep. Mike Duvall bragging to a colleague about how he's having sex with two lobbyists (Link updated to include transcript with sticky details), at least one of whom represented public utilities. Seems he didn't know the microphone was on and the tape was running and it would all end up very public.
Duvall (a married, pro-family Republican from relatively conservative Orange County) held a utilities committee post. This was so embarrassing he quit. AP story here.
UPDATE: Now Duvall says he didn't really have sexual relations with those lobbyists. He's just copping to "inappropriate storytelling." But he's still resigned.
What's missing in these accounts is info on what, if anything, Duvall gave these women's clients in exchange for their sexual favors. Or whatever they gave him.
You don't suppose this kind of thing doesn't happen in Harrisburg and Trenton? No; our legislators know enough to turn off the microphones.
