Split the baby: Chubb, Ace pair bosses in $28B merger

Ace Ltd. has named 16 Chubb Corp. executives and 18 Ace executives to top jobs, as the multinational insurer merges its Philadelphia-based North American operations into Warren, N.J.-based Chubb. Ace is buying Chubb for $28 billion. It plans to do business as Chubb Group (everwhere). (Updated)

In most cases where Ace is putting a Chubb executive in charge, the boss has been given an Ace manager as a deputy, and vice versa, as if in hopes each pair of regional and national product teams will integrate. Ace expects to cut $650 million from the combined companies' $3.8 billion in yearly expenses, leaving both offices to wonder which group will hurt worst. Ace CEO Evan Greenberg says he's hoping to sell a lot more insurance as a result of the combination, and hire more over time.

The combined companies will do business in the U.S. and Canada under the Chubb Group brand. New North American Insurance bosses, regional CEOs, deputies ("RCOOs"):
