Two more Penn State players on awards list; Ireland travel announced

Linebacker Glenn Carson and guard John Urschel have been mentioned on watch lists for college football awards.

A pair of Penn State seniors, linebacker Glenn Carson and guard John Urschel, have earned mention on watch lists for college football awards.

Carson was named for the Butkus Award given to the nation's top linebacker while Urschel is part of the list for the Rotary Lombardi Award, an honor given to down linemen and defensive players who line up within five yards of the football.

Urschel, who has graduated and will work on a second masters degree in the fall, already had been named to the watch list for the Outland Trophy given to the nation's top lineman.

The latest announcements give the Nittany Lions representation on seven pre-season watch lists for various awards. Former Northeast High star Deion Barnes is mentioned on two lists – the Bednarik and the Nagurski Awards.

In other news Monday from Penn State, the university announced that a variety of travel packages will be available for next year's trip to Dublin, Ireland, where the Nittany Lions will open the 2014 season against Central Florida. Information can be obtained on PSU.CrokeParkClassic.com.
