Penn State acting athletic director Dave Joyner is expected to interview Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Tom Clements on Friday, USA Today reported Friday.

The USA Today story described Clements, who hails from McKees Rocks in Western Pennsylvania, as a "leading candidate" to succeed the recently fired Joe Paterno as Penn State's next head football coach. The interview was expected to take place over the phone.

Since 2006, Clements, 58, has been with the Packers, coaching stars Brett Favre and now Aaron Rodgers. Before joining Green Bay, Clements was an assistant at Notre Dame and then with the New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills. He played quarterback at Notre Dame in the early 1970s and then in the Canadian Football League from 1975-1987

Joyner is also expected to interview interim head coach Tom Bradley on Friday, according to multiple media outlets.
