There was no sign of Bill Belton at practice on Wednesday in the first 15 minutes that reporters were allowed to watch.

Belton, the Nittany Lions' No. 1 running back in the season-opener against Ohio, missed the past two games because of an ankle injury. He is listed as day-to-day.

Meanwhile No. 2 running back, Derek Day, was in full pads. Day missed last week's game against Navy and was also listed as day-to-day for Saturday's game against Temple.

"I would say that Day is a little bit ahead of Belton," coach Bill O'Brien said at Tuesday's press conference. "But they are both day-to-day, and we are going to continue to monitor that."

Senior Mike Zordich took first team snaps at tailback, followed by Zach Zwinak and Curtis Dukes.

There was also no sign of left tackle Donovan Smith (ankle). The redshirt freshman missed last week's game and is also considered day-to-day.
