Recent Photos in and not in the Newspaper

Photos you didn't see if you don't read the newspaper.

Here are some photos from recent assignments you didn't see if you don't read the newspaper. And some you didn't see even if you do.

Widener University mechanical engineering senior Jay Bechtel traded places with the university president in a tradition at the school. He arrived at the adminstration building early. Last week, a routine report to the Philadelphia Historical Commission got all the local media hyped. A radio station reported that the roof was leaking in the building where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed. Independence National Park's architect said the $4 million plan to repair and restore sections of Independence Hall is just something they have to do every every decade or so as part of the historic building's  "cyclic maintenance." There wasn't - and  isn't - any imminent threat. But I got to climb up into the bell tower just like Nicolas Cage in National Treasure. I didn't see the secret brick or find Benjamin Franklin's special glasses, but I saw the clockworks for the Centennial Bell, created for the 1876 centenial celebration.

And I got to look out the little tiny door on the clock face level of the bell tower. It's visible just to the left of eight o'clock.

I was surprised how thick the siding is.
