Bill Iezzi: Softball Rankings

The Inquirer's softball rankings, which were based on Wednesday's results, have Kingsway as the No. 1 team in South Jersey with an 8-0 record.

Williamstown was the top team in the area the previous week.

Unfortunately, the two teams didn't play each other sooner. On Thursday, Williamstown edged the Dragons, 11-10, in a see-saw slugfest that ended in regulation when Jessica Martinez drove in the winning run.

So now Kingsway is 8-1 overall and 5-1 in the Tri-County Conference Royal Division. Williamstown is 4-1 and 4-0 in the Royal Division.

One thing that helped the Braves in a critical game for supremacy in the division was experience. They've won back-to-back Group 4 state championships and there are five seniors on the team who can tell you about it.

Kingsway, a talented team, had no seniors inn the lineup against Williamstown.
