Eustace Downs Irish in Girls' Hoops

It's considered one of the top girls' basketball rivalries in South Jersey and Bishop Eustace and Camden Catholic didn't let anybody down.

Eustace avenged an earlier loss to the Irish with tonight's 40-34 over visiting Camden Catholic in an Olympic Conference National Division game.

Eustace's Ify Obianwu had 16 points and 12 rebounds and Jackie Schluth added 13 points.

Eustace appeared ready for a semi-rout when it took a 32-21 lead with about two minutes left in the third quarter.

The Irish tied the score 34-34 on freshman Nicole Angelo's three pointer with just more than three minutes remaining.

Obianwu broke the tie with a jumper inside that led to Eustace's 6-0 final run.

The atmosphere when Eustace meets the Irish is always top-flight and tonight was no different. The crowd at Eustace was into every play, giving the game a championship feel.

Then again, if both win their final National Division game, they will be co-champs.
